Misty Blueberry

‘Misty’ blueberry plants are grown not only for their fruit-producing capabilities but also for their attractive blue-green foliage and pink-to-white flowers. ‘Misty’ has sweet, firm berries! ‘Misty’ is one of the most attractive, vigorous, and high yielding Southern Highbush varieties; making it an excellent choice for southern climates. They can grow from 4 to 6 feet tall. Blueberry plants are fast growing and reliable. Growing a ‘Misty’ blueberry plant in your garden requires a little preparation and care. Make sure the planting area you choose has good drainage, is free of tree roots and at least 20 feet away from any structures.

Blueberries are naturally high in antioxidants! Blueberries are extremely nutritious and have a high vitamin content. They are excellent in pies and make delicious jams and preserves. Best of all, bake your own blueberry muffins! Blueberries are rapidly increasing in interest. Like all blueberries, they must have moist, acidic soil to flourish. Even without the added bonus of delicious berries, they make an attractive deciduous shrub with white flowers in spring and striking autumn colors. In the winter, they have beautiful bright red-wood.

Set plants out as early as possible in the spring. Prune branches back about 1/2 their length at planting time with no further pruning required the next 3 years. Prune annually thereafter during the dormant period.
