Package Contents: Includes two (2) Blue Glory Vine (Thunbergia battiscombei) starter plants. Each plant measures approximately 5-9 inches in height. Plants are supplied in a bare-root state for immediate planting.

Distinctive Floral Color: Features large, trumpet-shaped flowers in a saturated royal blue to violet hue with a contrasting yellow throat. The velvet-textured blooms appear consistently throughout the warm season against broad, heart-shaped green foliage.

Versatile Scrambling Habit: Unlike aggressive twining vines, this species exhibits a sprawling or "scrambling" growth habit. It can be trained to climb a trellis with support, allowed to cascade from a hanging basket, or pruned into a bushy shrub shape in containers.

Pollinator Support: The open, tubular structure of the flowers provides accessible nectar for bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, contributing to biodiversity in garden settings.

Heat Performance: Native to tropical Africa, this plant is adapted to warm climates. It thrives in high heat and humidity, performing well in USDA Hardiness Zones 9-11 as a perennial or as a vigorous summer annual in cooler zones (4-8).

Planting Note: Thunbergia plants have large leaves that may wilt or drop during transit due to moisture conservation. This is a temporary physiological response; the root system remains viable and will generate new foliage rapidly after planting and hydration.

Add Royal Blue Elegance to Your Garden

Thunbergia battiscombei, commonly known as the Blue Glory Vine or Blue Boy, offers a distinct alternative to standard garden vines. Distinguished by its intense blue-violet flowers and yellow centers, this tropical species provides a cool color palette that contrasts effectively with the warm yellows and oranges typical of summer gardens. Whether used to adorn a patio trellis or fill a large planter, it delivers consistent visual impact.

A "Scrambler" for Any Space This plant is unique in its growth habit. It is not a clinging vine but rather a "scrambler." This means it offers flexibility in landscape design.

With Support: Tie it to a trellis or fence, and it will climb up to 6 feet, creating a wall of color.

Without Support: Let it grow naturally in a container or hanging basket, where it will mound and trail gracefully over the edges.

Tropical Adaptability Blue Glory Vine is a heat-loving plant that flourishes when temperatures rise.

In Zones 9-11: It grows as an evergreen perennial, blooming intermittently year-round.

In Zones 4-8: It acts as a prolific annual. Because it grows quickly, it establishes and blooms heavily within a single season, providing value even in colder climates.

Planting Information These starter plants are shipped bare-root to verify root health and reduce shipping weight. While the soft foliage may appear tired upon arrival, the plant is resilient. Once established in well-draining soil with adequate sun, it recovers quickly and begins its rapid growth cycle.
