A passion fruit vine that won't flower is one of the more frustrating problems in the garden, but the cause usually comes down to one of a few common issues.
Not Enough Sun
Passion fruit vines need at least 6-8 hours of direct sun to flower reliably. A vine growing in too much shade may put out plenty of green growth but few, if any, blooms.
Too Much Nitrogen
Heavy nitrogen fertilization encourages lush vine growth at the expense of flowers. Switching to a bloom-boosting fertilizer with more phosphorus and potassium often helps kickstart flowering.
Immature Vine
Passion fruit vines need to reach a certain level of maturity before they'll flower, which can take a year or more depending on the variety and growing conditions. Patience is sometimes the only fix.
Insufficient Pruning
Passion fruit flowers on new growth, so a vine that's never been pruned can end up putting energy into old wood instead of producing fresh, flowering shoots. An annual prune can help reset things.
